I love life, my cat, my beautifully handsome wife, music (I started out a country girl and my tastes have expanded everyday), film, sports (Vancouver Canucks, BC Lions, CANWNT, and just about any sport that is on my tv or the field in front of me). I want to be the change I want to see in the world and hopefully I will have my Atticus Finch moment

hi guys! this is a comic i made for a final in my comics in literature class. we had to do a research paper on a topic we’d discussed in class and then accompany it with a comic with a relevant subject. my paper was about hyper-sexualization of women in comic books, but i decided to broaden it out here as well as personalize it and make myself the subject and discuss something i’ve been subjected to in the convention circuit and on the internet as well as thousands of other women, as well as give a cue to thought about how the comic book industry as well as the video game industry and even just media in general (all of which are male dominated) push such ridiculous pressures onto girls and women.
also, it feels kind of silly to have to add this since i hope it’s obvious, but i am very aware that there are men that don’t subscribe to this attitude, and am incredibly grateful that these issues are brought to light to people other than the ones that are subjected to it.
anyway haha i have literally been staring at this for 9 hours i don’t even know which direction is up anymore. thanks for reading!!!
Fantastic.

I know I already mentioned how amazing the live stream is for the Portland Thorns, but I am in awe. Female announcers that know what the hell they are talking about. A player singing the national anthem. The colors were presented by women in uniform. The stadium is packed. Fireworks! HD stream. The other streams were like playing an old Atari and this one is like plying Xbox on a big screen tv.
Thank you!
So anyone who knows me knows that I hate running. Every time I run I complain that “running is dumb”. Even though I hate running, I love runners. I’m married to a runner. I love the sense of community that you feel when you are at a race. Many of those who are in the earlier groups to cross the finish line come back to cheer on the “average” runners (anyone who can run 13.1 or 26.2 miles is far from average in my books). So many runners, run races for charity. The last mile of today’s Boston Marathon was dedicated to the victims of the Sandy Hook tragedy. Runner’s are a special group of people.
When the news of the tragedy at the Boston Marathon broke today, I called my wife because I wanted to hear my runners voice. This happened 4 hours after the race started. This is when “everyday” runners were living their dream. Finishing Boston is a huge accomplishment. It is my wife’s dream. Today three people died (one of whom was an eight year old boy) and hundreds were injured while they were watching their loved ones dig deep to find that last kick, after conquering Heartbreak Hill, to make it across the finish line. My heart breaks for the people who have been touched by this tragedy, but my faith in humanity is restored when I see spectators and photographers running toward the chaos to help move barricades so that police and EMTs could get to those injured. Knowing that runners left the race so that they could offer to donate blood shows that there is still good in this world. That is what I am going to hang on to tonight, that and my wife~my runner!
Be well and be safe everyone. <3
